Who said anything about a TO from a Chinese company? FYI you won’t be able to vote on any potential sale by AVZ of its Dathcom shares, whether this happens at 100% or a lessor percentage just to let you know.

Fighting to the end and worse case scenarios doesn’t sound what you might say, “commercially strategic”.

If I had a choice in the matter I would see AVZ sell 100% (or continue to hold a 10% free carry) of its ownership of the Roche Dure tenement for say $4B, provide a special dividend to AVZ shareholders of approx $1.20 or more then with balance of funds held by AVZ prove up Carriere de I’Este and just do it all again, and while picking up a couple of other sites either here in Australia or the DRC to diversify.

On the above example I’d expect with AVZ holding approx $500M in the bank, say 10% of Dathcom, 100% of the surrounding Manono leases (already held) and Carriere de I’Este and AVZ power making dollars charging for the electricity to mining sites and town the share price would be approximately 40 cents, maybe more IMO of course. (Or flip this all around and sell Carriere de I’Este for $1B with 100% off take locked in and move forward with Roche Dure with no debt or need to take on equity parters Chinese or otherwise, just a thought)

FYI the Carriere de l’Este Pegmatite, has a mapped length of about 5,500m, and is potentially the largest pegmatite in the Manono Project and potentially the highest grade.

Fight to the death or bitter end, winner take all is good when your back is against the wall, however I believe AVZ is well in front of everything and is gradually winning its bouts with the various corrupt parties it encounters so to that end this is all a game of strategy more like chess then a punch up.

The strategy is to protect, retain or monetise assets to make the most dollars for shareholders, nothing else really matters. If the best outcome for shareholders (immediate and long term) is for some type of TO so be it.

I see a full or partial TO as an absolute win for shareholders (if completed on favourable terms of course.)

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a high chance of a TO of AVZ’s interests in Dathcom at this time. Although I certainly do hope it happens now and it’s based on a similar outcome / structure to what I described above.

In any event, I would not dismiss the “Opportunity” of a TO so readily when there are Take Overs and there are Take Overs, any outcome that is of great financial benefit and reward to AVZ shareholders is welcome IMO.

As suggested in a previous post, seems this week is turning out to be very interesting indeed.

Regarding coming out of suspension, from what I hear it’s unlikely this week, apparently everything is all sorted in favour of AVZ which is great news, yet there are still various processes and documents to complete / finalise to support coming out of suspension. It all might be completed and written up in the next few days but sounded unlikely. As always, we shall see what the tide brings in tomorrow, and the next day and so on and so on…….

Albemarle now expects the price at which it sells its lithium to jump at least 225% in 2022 and adjusted profit in its lithium division to rise at least 500%.

“We have shifted our lithium contracting strategy to realize greater benefits from these strong market dynamics,” Albemarle CEO Kent Masters said in a statement with the results.

In fact the company says it now expect “significant growth in full-year 2022 results including net sales of $US7.1 – $US7.5 billion,” or twice the 2021 figure.

Adjusted EBITDA for 2022 is now forecast to be three times the 2021 figure in a range of $US3.2 – $US3.5 billion.

Net sales surged 91% to $US1.48 billion in the quarter. Adjusted EBITDA was $US610.2 million up a huge $US415.6 million from the June, 2021 quarter primarily due to higher net sales, partially offset by inflationary cost pressures including natural gas prices in Europe and raw materials. Adjusted profit in the company’s lithium division more than quadrupled.

And in a briefing late last week Masters made it clear it ain’t going to get any better for carmakers.

Masters said the market will remain tight despite efforts to unlock produce more of the metal.

“It’s systemic for a pretty long period of time,” Masters said of the challenge facing the industry. “For seven to eight years it stays pretty tight.”

"Chinexit" or the "desinization" of Congo in progress?​

Despite the proven potential of Manono's lithium project, and while an arbitration over the perimeter is still ongoing, one of its long-time shareholders, influential Chinese businessman Simon Cong, has withdrawn. The deposit is located in the stronghold of former President Joseph Kabila's brother. A key intermediary between China and the DRC, Cong Mao Huai, often called Simon Cong, has just withdrawn from a project that will need privileged relations between the two countries to materialize: the Manono lithium deposit in the Congolese province of Tanganyika.

Dathomir Mining Resources, owned by Simon Cong, considered the bridgehead of Chinese business in the DRC, reached an agreement in September to sell its 10% in Manono to the Australian project operator, AVZ Minerals. The completion of the transaction will make the latter the 75% owner of the lithium site compared to 25% for the Congolese public company Cominière.

However, Chinese manufacturers are the world's leading consumers of lithium, this metal being used in the composition of electric batteries whose Xi Jinping regime aims to be the world leader in manufacturing. In addition, AVZ's first shareholders are Chinese companies, Yibin Tianyi Lithium Industry Co and Huayou International Mining (Hong Kong) in particular, although the Australian company has begun negotiations in Europe, the Middle East and South Africa to finance the construction of the mine and then sell its production.

The transaction is expected to bring $15 million to Dathomir, although this payment depends on AVZ's ability to find $50 million in funding for Manono. Despite the difficult situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the feasibility study published in April by AVZ can make society optimistic about its search for funds. The report indicated that a net value of the project over the twenty years of mine life of just over $1 billion by exploiting a proven reserve of 93 million tons of lithium. The site also contains tin, which is also highly sought after. A profitable operation compared to the A$545.5 million ($386.7 million) to be committed to bring the project into production.

“It’s systemic for a pretty long period of time,” CEO Kent Masters told the Financial Times.

“For seven to eight years it stays pretty tight.”

Albemarle also expects to be able to increase its production and turn cash flow positive this year, off the back of continued strength in lithium pricing.

No surprise really, considering the IEA reckons we need about60 more lithium mines by the end of the decade to meet global decarbonisation and electric vehicle goals.

KINSHASA (Reuters) - A former right-hand man of Democratic Republic of Congo's president and now opposition leader, Jean-Marc Kabund, was arrested on Tuesday, his lawyer said, during controversy over a remark about his onetime boss.
The former vice president of parliament and current lawmaker had a falling out with President Felix Tshisekedi earlier this year, after which he launched his own political party.


He has been under investigation in recent weeks on charges that authorities have not specified.
His lawyers say he is accused of contempt of the head of state after a speech calling him "a danger".

Kabund's lawyer Henriette Bongwalanga said he was arrested on Tuesday after a hearing at the attorney general's office.
"They did not respect the procedure. Today they came after the hearing and (arrested) him despite his (parliamentary) immunity," she said.
The justice ministry could not be reached for comment and a spokesperson for the government declined to comment.

A police source said Kabund had been taken to Makala Central Prison in Congo's capital Kinshasa.
Kabund was a leading figure behind Tshisekedi's rise to power and their fallout has highlighted emerging fault-lines in the country's leadership. This could spell uncertainty for the future of the ruling Sacred Union coalition as the 2023 presidential election nears, political analysts have said.
In a statement about the proceedings last week, Kabund said the investigation against him was proof that Congolese institutions were being exploited to serve political interests.
"Fighting the Tshisekedi regime is an absolute necessity for me, no matter the price to be paid," he wrote on Twitter.

It was on Tuesday August 9 that the American Secretary of State Antony Blinken set foot on Congolese soil, coming from South Africa before going to Rwanda.

The arrival in Kinshasa of Antony Blinken coincides with the granting by the United States to the DRC of 23.75 million US dollars in support of the elections.

A press release from the United States Department of State informs that "the United States is providing $23.75 million to support the elections in the DRC, in particular to strengthen transparency and electoral administration, improve civic and electoral education, give people – including women and youth – the means to participate meaningfully in elections and help marginalized communities understand and access political processes.

In July, USAID and the state announced $2 million and $1 million, respectively, to fund international and domestic election observation.”

The statement from the US State Department insists on the holding of transparent, credible and inclusive elections.


In Kinshasa, Antony Blinken defends the territorial integrity of the DRC

After his stay in South Africa, Antony Blinken arrived in the DRC on Tuesday August 9 at the end of the afternoon.

The head of American diplomacy exchanged in stride with President Félix Tshisekedi on several subjects including that of the tensions between Kinshasa and Kigali, against the backdrop of the activism of the rebel group M23 in the east of the country.

The two men also spoke at length about the oil blocks recently auctioned by the Congolese government.

Without openly condemning Kigali, which the Congolese government and United Nations experts accuse of supporting the M23, the American Secretary of State shared his country's concerns:

"We are concerned by this United Nations report which indicates that the Rwanda supported the M23.

We call on each party in this region to be able to stop all support for M23, all support for all other non-state armed groups.

Without openly speaking of aggression, he spoke out in favor of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the DRC and supported the diplomatic efforts deployed by Angola and Kenya for de-escalation between Kinshasa and Kigali:

“We are going to invest in order to protect civilians.

We therefore want to endorse the cooperation that the DRC must carry out with its neighbours. This is what I will point out when I go to see the other leaders of this sub-region”.

The other major subject of the exchanges was the question of oil and gas blocks auctioned by the DRC, some of which are located in sensitive and/or protected areas.

Antony Blinken announced the establishment of a working group that will look into this issue.

“Some of its resources are irreplaceable, that we cannot damage them. On the other hand, we must be reassured that the necessary support can be granted to the DRC to preserve the forests that the country abounds in and to create opportunities for the Congolese population,” he said.

This Wednesday, the American Secretary of State will meet other personalities including members of civil society.

What about the court made to the DRC?

Before the 3rd United States / Africa summit scheduled for December 2022, Washington is deploying its various teams on the African ground as if to recall the troops.

With the war in Ukraine - for which it assumes a huge share of responsibility - and the diplomatic crisis with China following Ms. Nancy Pelosi's brief stay in Taiwan, the American administration intends to impose Pax Americana on the world.

The truth is that they are returning to the scene of the "crime of abandonment" perpetrated on several formerly Third World countries, according to the criteria dictated at the time of the Cold War...

Among these countries, one suspects, the Democratic Republic of Congo, neglected from 1990 by its great Western friends, so much so that over the past 30 years, the latter have deliberately limited cooperation to humanitarianism, knowing perfectly well that it has never, but never contributed to the development of a State.

Thus, for three decades, they operated their embassies just for figuration and to dissuade their economic operators from reinvesting or investing in large-scale production, which generates secure jobs and budgetary revenues.

They prescribed to the sick Congo a homeopathic dose treatment leading rather to a slow but sure death than to curing the patient.

At least, among the few countries in the world to have acted like the Good Samaritan of the Bible, we can count India, Japan, China and Australia.

These countries maintained a beneficial cooperation while the Americans, Belgians, French, Germans, etc. left the DRC groggy.

Would they have wanted to punish successive heads of state in this country who refused to obey injunctions? Fake !

Because if his successors at one time or another "rebelled", Felix Tshisekedi showed good dispositions towards them without being encouraged.

It is therefore an irrational option on their part since the States or the regimes are less the officials than the populations.

To declare, to guarantee as a priority the security of the Congolese populations and to deprive them at the same time of the first of the rights, namely productive work, proceeds from both the abnormal and the amoral.

The image that can be taken is that of the bread found on the bedside of a sick person.

Throw it in the trash and condition its replacement on respect for human rights, the electoral process, good governance, etc. while the patient is starving is no more, no less than a crime.

In this case, it is worse when we know that we have abandoned the patient to his fate for thirty years.

This bread resembles the investments made by countries like India, Japan, China, Australia, etc. in hard times for the Congolese while European and American friends not only suspended theirs, but also engaged in acts of disinvestment!

However, the Congolese retain from the Judeo-Christian culture in which they formed the morality which promotes the adage (and wisdom):

"One in your hand is better than two, you will have it".

The Congolese have a sense of gratitude towards those who do him good.

Seems a few here (one in particular) are putting shit on Der Geist and it also seems to me that Der Geist has done more research and provided more information (including support) towards AVZ then a few of those who are shitting on him, and again, one in particular who seems to have speculation to spread but no actual facts!! In other news, Blinkin who just visited the DRC isn’t happy about Kabund being arrested and in the east of the country 8 people have been killed during the escape of 800 prisoners with the help of the militia. I’ve had rest from posting info here because of all that’s going on, and I prefer not to post the negatives and to just trust in what Nigel has said and what he is doing, but when you read some of the speculation here you end up having to say something. I did like Winenut’s post last week though, was a good vent and I wanted to tell him if he’s ever in Lake Macquarie NSW, I’ll take him out to the cow paddocks at Martinsville and we’ll get a sack full of blue moonies and goldtops and make ourselves a brew

The fight against corruption, no U.S. companies possible in the DRC as long as there is corruption. That’s what the Ambassador Hammer told us a few months ago. During your visit, you also talked about business in the DRC, American companies. Can they come? Are you satisfied with the work by the DRC?

SECRETARY BLINKEN: (Via interpreter) I think that there’s a greater awareness now that corruption is a cancer that attacks democracy, that attacks the Congolese people, and that also attacks the possibility of foreign investments. We’ve seen positive approaches by the government. I mentioned them with my – your colleagues. But there’s still some work to be done, especially about transparency from the government, contracting, et cetera.

But I think that there’s an approach underway, there’s a direct connection between this approach and the possibility for investments. For example, in the mineral sector, we have now established a partnership for mining for minerals, and we need to exploit minerals but not human beings. And what’s important in this partnership is namely possibly to have investments. What we are asking for is that this exploitation take place according to real values – namely, respect for the workers, respect for the environment, respect for transparency.

The DRC, I think, will take part in this partnership, and this is quite promising for the future. So if there’s no corruption, U.S. companies will come, yes.

I think you misread my insinuation. I was getting at that brand new account talking just like der Geist/li Tao/oil & gas, it’s a possibility of yet ANOTHER fake account by them.

When you look at it objectively it/she/he/them/theirs/ze is absolutely fucking nuts, who has at least three accounts to spend all day on social media slamming a company, with accusations - nobody will ever be able to convince me that behaviour isn’t mental illness.

Then all accounts went quiet suddenly at the height of their BS mudslinging. Now all of a sudden one comes back, now the other and they are both strongly on AVZ side, hmmmm. At least their li Tao/lithium analysis character seems dead (probably hence a new one lol). I certainly don’t forget their bs actions.

Surely you agree that multiple personality or at least multiple social-media personality individual has an arrogance to their conversing, even patronising at times. Or at least that’s certainly what I’ve taken from looking at their multiple personalities interactions.

I’ve just wrote what I think on him and his many aliases, in short mental illness. Then again if he did help with the AVZ letter is he an employee, he would certainly be far closer to the action than us. Certainly not a messiah. Give me this forum any day over those insane characters.
