“Expect the unexpected”

It’s bear season in Canada and a hunter sets off to kill a bear. Dressed in camouflage and armed with his favourite rifle and fresh bait he secures a spot near a clearing bears are known to roam frequently.

Before long a giant grisly wanders into the clearing and with the bear in his sights the hunter takes his shot.

A loud screaming howl was heard from the bear, followed by the sound of trees falling and dirt and dust filling the air

The hunter runs in and when the dust settles he looks around but there is no sign of the bear.

A second later he gets a tap on the back of his shoulder, turns around and sees the giant grisly looking down at him…. The grisly rips all the clothes off the hunter, throws him down and molests him.

Several hours later, the hunter, battered, bruised and bleeding makes his way back to town and goes into the local gun shop. Furious at having been humiliated by the bear, he buys several semi automatic weapons and bear traps and plans his revenge on the bear

An hour later he is back at the clearing, bear traps and bait set, high powered semi automatic weapons loaded and aimed at the clearing, and is again patiently waiting for the bear when all of a sudden he hears the bear traps go off and fires several rounds into the clearing.

A load piercing roar from the bear ensues once again followed by the sounds of crashing and crumbling trees and dust and smoke filling the clearing.

The hunter runs in and when the dust settles he looks around and finds no sign of the bear. A second later, he gets a tap on the shoulder and turns around to see the bear behind him again…. The bear rips all his clothes off, and begins to molest him several times, first over a log, then up against a tree, on and on

Now the hunter, more humiliated, battered, bruised and furious than before is even more determined to take revenge on the bear.

Eventually he makes his way back to town, goes to the gun shop, purchases a rocket launcher, several grenades, more bear traps, and anything else that he thinks might kill the bear

Several hours later back at the clearing, with all traps set and grenades, rockets and other weapons all aimed at the clearing he waits again for the bear.

Before long the traps start going off, followed by grenades, rockets and rifle fire, and after the sounds of the howls of the bear and crashing trees and dust and smoke the hunter runs in and looks around and finds no sign of the bear

He turns around again and this time the bear looks down at him and says…. “Your not here for the hunting are you!”

"... the Company is taking extra precautions to ensure its confidential discussions with the DRC Government are not leaked prior to resolving the prevailing uncertainty with regards to the mining and exploration rights for the Manono Project."

At least they're divulging some form of information for a change. Although I don't like the sound of this paragraph much given the propensity to play down any negatives in the past:

'The Company is concerned that the continued activity of the hostile non-State actors may influence the decisions of the key authorities in DRC in a manner that is contrary to applicable law and materially adverse to the interests of the Company. In light of the unauthorised access of the Company’s confidential and legally privileged information, the Company is taking extra precautions to ensure its confidential discussions with the DRC Government are not leaked prior to resolving the prevailing uncertainty with regards to the mining and exploration rights for the Manono Project.'

Agreed, nice to see some information rather than the standard extension ann.
The way it reads, as we suspected from the recent "meeting" with CKK and Franck that this still isn't anywhere near close to being resolved but at least they are giving some more info in an official ann. (y)

I think it was the usual cut and paste change dates announcement in the morning which ASX may have rejected, resulting late announcement as Perth office had to wait for Nige to wake up to give extra info ?
🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

For Nicolas Kazadi, the Congolese government wants to reconsider the Manono lithium contract

March 31, 2023
Kiki Kienge

By Kiki Kienge
This is now one of the issues that will make the headlines for a while in the DR Congo, Manono's lithium.
The DRC Congo after two negative attempts for the exploitation of lithium from Manono in the province of Tanganiyka, first with a Mauritian company, MMCS and later with the Chinese company, Simon Cong, DATHOMIR . These two companies having received at least 70% of the shares of the Congolese State in the joint venture to carry out the feasibility study for the exploitation of lithium, were unable to do so despite the 70% received from raise sufficient funds for the realization of this project. The Australians of AVZ Minerals, buying 60% of the shares of DATHOMIR notably invited themselves to the dance, thus becoming the majority shareholder of DATHCOM, the joint venture between the Congolese State through COMINIERE and DATHOMIR of Simon Cong.
COMINIERE having sold off its shares, from 30% today with only 5%, puts the Congolese State in difficulty, which no longer has control over its lithium.
Here's how the current share distribution in DATHCOM would look like:
  • AVZ 60% + (15% in dispute with DATHOMIR).
  • COMINIERE had 25%, 15% sold to ZIJIN and 5% transferred to MMCS.
COMINIERE would thus only own 5% plus the 5% that DATHOMIR would have to retrocede to COMINIERE for not having built the Lubumbashi Manono road.
But then after having granted the exploitation permit to DATHCOM, the Minister of Mines of the DR Congo, Antoinette Nsamba Kalambayi following the accusations of COMINIERE in the management of DATHCOM against AVZ Minerals, the latter had withdrawn the exploitation permit, thus blocking the construction of the factory for the exploitation of lithium in Manono.
Interviewed by a journalist from the Financial Times, the Minister of Finance of the DR Congo, Nicolas Kazadi spoke of a desire of the Congolese government to want to review the contract between COMMINIERE and its partners, AVZ Minerals and DATHOMIR:
“FTimes; Let's move on to another mineral that Congo has and is probably also in my phone, lithium. Congo has a potential large lithium project at Mano. It has also been in the news for various reasons. There was a dispute with one of the owners, AVZ Minerals. If I understand correctly, their license has been revoked. Can you tell us what the Congo is planning for this deposit? »
“N Kazadi; Yes, it was done a bit in a not very, very transparent way, it was not in the interest of our country, which is why we came back to it. But I would not like to say more about this, because the procedure is still ongoing. »

Should the Congolese government be content to recover its 25% sold off by its company COMINIERE, or seek to nibble a few more percentages of AVZ Minerals and the 15% still in dispute with DATHOMIR?
