ICSID is in Washington. ICC is in Paris.
ICSID hearings can be held in Paris as well as Washington.
As Wombat said early morning in Paris and still Sunday in Washington. Here in the West Washington is 12 hours behind us and Paris 6 hours behind
The language stated for hearing is French so iam guessing is held in Paris. Actual location can be found in "procedural documents" ( apparently)
Either way 6 hours difference between the venues . Hope for some news today

Is the 23rd a restart date or a reset date ? I'm thinking it's a reset date .Which means there could also be some grace time before a reset date needs to be locked in/announced if more time is needed IMO

At DRC Mining Week, Americans and Europeans Display Different Approaches to DRC Minerals

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), DRC Mining Week, the largest gathering of mining sector stakeholders in the region, took place from June 11 to 13, 2025, in Lubumbashi, in the south of the DRC.

While the American strategy focuses on mining, the European Union seeks to act on value chains.

Here are some explanations.

This year's DRC Mining Week was characterized by a highly anticipated American presence.

The United States Ambassador to the DRC, Lucy Tamlyn, attended the event for the first time and outlined the Trump administration's new economic ambitions for the continent.

"For too long, we have been in the background on the continent," the US ambassador acknowledged to an audience of investors, before adding:

"We are now focusing on growth driven by investment and trade."

The Americans want to diversify their sources of supply of minerals needed for advanced technologiesβ€”cobalt, coltan, and lithiumβ€”most of whose deposits are located in eastern DRC.

To achieve this, Lucy Tamlyn emphasized the need to restore peace in eastern DRC and called for the withdrawal of all foreign forces from the country.

Washington and Kinshasa are negotiating a minerals agreement that should give the United States access to the DRC's strategic minerals in exchange for support in resolving the conflict with the AFC/M23 political-military group.

With this agreement, Washington hopes to be able to explore in the region.

Meanwhile, an American company, KoBold Metals, has expressed interest in the Manono lithium deposit in Katanga, the southern region of the DRC.

The Americans have also invested more than $6 billion in the Lobito Corridor, the renovation of this railway line running from Zambia to Angola, via the DRC, which would allow the export of mineral resources from these three countries.

I just can't see any reason how they can be so aggressive and eager in their pursuit of acquiring Manono and not pay a premium to AVZ(or why our bod would ever allow it otherwise).

Like the minerals for security deal isnt finalised and you have kobold calling dibs like its the front seat of a long car ride.

I think the issue is (as Trump would put it) we don't hold the cards.....

Well not all of them unfortunately

Still let's see what happens.....fingers crossed we hear something soon

I'm no ICSID professional, but if it were to be suspended again, seems like it's cutting it a bit late?

Chapter VIII: Suspension, Settlement and Discontinuance

Rule 54: Suspension of the Proceeding

(1) The Tribunal shall suspend the proceeding by agreement of the parties.

(2) The Tribunal may suspend the proceeding upon the request of either party or on its own initiative, except as otherwise provided in the ICSID Administrative and Financial Regulations or these Rules.

(3) The Tribunal shall give the parties the opportunity to make observations before ordering a suspension pursuant to paragraph (2).

(4) In its order suspending the proceeding,
the Tribunal shall specify:

(a) the period of the suspension;
(b) any relevant terms; and
(c) a modified procedural calendar to take effect on resumption of the proceeding, if necessary.

(5) The Tribunal shall extend the period of a suspension prior to its expiry by agreement of the parties.

(6) The Tribunal may extend the period of a suspension prior to its expiry, on its own initiative or upon a party’s request, after giving the parties an opportunity to make observations.

(7) The Secretary-General shall suspend the proceeding pursuant to paragraph (1) or extend the suspension pursuant to paragraph
(5) if the Tribunal has not yet been constituted or if there is a vacancy on the Tribunal. The parties shall inform the Secretary-General of the period of the suspension and any terms agreed to by the parties.

I can’t see any mention of how much notice is required for an extension.

The following posted by Avenger on the crapper. Interested in opinions from the learned TSE crew. Point 2 raised concerns re cap gains on selling the asset!!

The above is all good reading and the following key takeouts-
1. The buyout range of $1.50 to $3.00 usd with within the forecasted $4.08aud I've previously supplied.
2. They're won't be a relisting here as KoBold offer to buyout is already accepted and simply awaiting final terms. To further clarify, the buyout transaction relates to the sale of DRC Manono Asset sale and not the sale or absorption of AVZ minerals into KoBold.
3. There won't be any JV here either and the AVZ -KoBold framework as the word framework suggests is predicated on a number of outcomes
a. DRC-USA securities agreement - done deal
b. Arbitration suspension between AVZ - DRC - done deal
c. The compensation payout to AVZ minerals for the Northern.portion which will be reliquished to Zinjin - done deal.
d. The agreement between AVZ - KoBold confirming the southern section will be owned by KoBold.
The asset buyout is imminent and IMO $4.08AUD will be close enough to the number based on DFS NPV/IRR and also on a comparative basis to other recently completed Lithium deal particularly the RIO Tinto $6.7b usd takeover

Note that The Avenger is speculating and responding to a post from JonoNZ who had used Copilot AI to generate some ideas
