Violence in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo that’s displaced nearly 7 million people could delay elections scheduled for December, President Felix Tshisekedi told French President Emmanuel Macron.
Voter enrollment has started in the rest of the country, and Tshisekedi, during a meeting Saturday in Kinshasa, urged Macron and the European Union to support a peace plan and a process for displaced people to return home and register to vote.
“If not, we risk a considerable delay that could impact the planned date” for the vote, Tshisekedi told reporters.

A surge in violence in eastern Congo has displaced more Congolese than at any time in the 30-year history of conflict in the region, according to United Nations figures. More than one hundred armed groups are active in the mineral-rich east, which borders Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

Tshisekedi and a UN group of experts accuse Rwanda of supporting one of the armed groups, the M23, which says it’s protecting Congolese of Rwandan heritage. An ongoing offensive by the group has forced hundreds of thousands to flee and threatens the trading hub of Goma.

Rwanda denies backing the rebels, and has committed to a regional peace plan overseen by ex-Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and Angolan President Joao Lourenco.
“Those who are obstacles to this plan know what they’re exposed to, including sanctions,” Macron said.
Macron met with Lourenco on Friday as part of a four-nation tour to shore up French relations in Central Africa and highlight the importance of the Congo Basin, the world’s second largest tropical rainforest, in the fight against climate change.

On Saturday, Tshisekedi and Macron spoke about the protection of Congo’s forests as well as trade and the mining of strategic minerals. Congo is a major producer of copper and cobalt, key metals in the global energy transition.

The leaders discussed the support of French geological survey, BRGM, in mapping Congo’s mineral deposits, Tshisekedi said.
Both presidents also mentioned the checkered, post-colonial history of France in Africa, and called for a change in their relationship.
In 2021, Macron traveled to Rwanda to accept some responsibility for supporting the perpetrators of the 1994 genocide there. Violence later spread to eastern Congo; its legacy still haunts the region and is at the root of many of the east’s conflicts.

Macron pushed back against claims that France bore ongoing responsibility for the persistent violence.
“Since 1994, it’s not the fault of France, forgive me for saying it in such raw terms, that you have not been capable of restoring sovereignty — neither military, security, or administrative — in your country. This is the reality,” Macron said Saturday. “You don’t need to search for guilty parties outside the country.”

Congo was colonized by Belgium but has long had close ties to France. It’s now the world’s largest French-speaking nation and has become “the center of gravity” of the language, Macron said.

Then there's another scenario China controls the world and wombat becomes its slave i.e. has to work hard for 1 meal a day and loses his right to mouth off/whinge about the occupiers. This man's vision must be putting him close to ending up in the looney bin.

Fair enough geo -au . Weren't you a top 20 holder in AVQ (Axiom Mining ) ranting about it's amazing future as you watched all of your investment go down the sh1tter . So I'll give you some cred for actually being someone who has experience in this kind of sh1t storm and coming up a sucker . I'm not bitching , I'm putting out the argument that a compromise is better than losing ones investment . Some want the all or nothing approach , give the Chinese nothing . That's cool but I don't agree and I'm just responding to that . And I'm cool with you being a smart arse . Water off a duck's back .

OK so I've just been contacted by Jens Emil Soderlund on my twitter private message. He has asked me to lay off the so called "Memes" (they are not memes they are tactical comms). He said just lay off because the President is getting pissed off with them (embarrassing).

The request was to lay off just for this week. (obviously due to Macron visit). I told him I hadn't even started yet and have an entire campaign to roll out. But I'm happy to take a collective sense check from everyone in here to see what you reckon. Whether to let up for a bit.

I think the sore point is the Princess IGF piece. Apparently she is loved by her constituents and her people. And insulting her is not helping.

Anyway let me know.

Well anything that's not helping as conveyed by one of our Local supporters obviously isn't helping. Stopping for a week or so isn't that hard. Imo

I’m still a firm believer embarrassment is a great way to cause action, the fact FT is embarrassed (if true) means he’s more than aware of the situation.. which is good for us.
Take the week off.. see what comes out of it

Easy fix - give AVZ it's mining licence. No more tactical comms required. This is the most progress we have made in 10 months.
Edit: Spike - one fine day I am shouting you a beer or two!

She is only loved by her constituents because they aren't aware of how exactly she tried to rat fuck them. If she doesn't like being 'insulted' she shouldn't have sold her country out. And the idea that the facts in the IGF report would be any less damaging next week is ridiculous.

I sincerely doubt that this sort of request came from Felix. More likely it's from AVZ management as they are in negotiations with the DRC government this week imo

Stopping for 1 week isn't hard but don't think you need to if you wanted to keep going.

He has had months to sort this shit out and he has done fkall, so he can go cry a river.

IMO.

Yes, but the worse case scenario is AVZ end up with a controlling interest of 51% but they are fighting for what they're entitled to under DRC law that is the reason why we are still in a trading halt.

My investment in the Solomon Islands is dead, I can live with that as I've done well in other stocks.

The President is getting pissed off hey?

What about the thousands of investors who've pumped money into this project under the proviso that the DRC is a great place for foreign investment only to be stifled and blocked by his corrupt government and the Chinese at every turn.

The one guy who can do something is embarrassed by his own inaction.

And fuck MoP, what a useless lowlife looter of state assets and Chinese puppet.

I'd maybe give it a week and step up the campaign tenfold particularly against her.
Surely popularity by an uninformed populace doesn't give one the right to loot and pillage state assets for personal gain. Justice has to be served to these people.

What do we achieve by stopping for 1 week? FT has done nothing to help AVZ. If he's feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed, he knows how to fix the problem.

Mate are you serious " the worst we can do is 51% controlling interest". Where does that come from. Jesus it wouldn't surprise me if they nationalised it for a while then gave it to z free of charge. Jesus MOP , mom , cong , z , cami and christ knows how many other politicians against us. The president either not able or unwilling to intervene. So it seems to me the rats are captaining the ship. Sell the prick of a thing Nigel. Imo.
