Even with all that mica in the north?
Nigel said he wasn't worried about the north at the roadshows last year. Obviously AJN considerations made that more complicated at the time but they're out of the picture now. As a shareholder I too would prefer the ICSID over sharing with Zijin but it's not what I'd pick given no other option by the DRC government if I was running an ASX listed company. Let's see what this talk of MoU brings. I've got the champagne on ice ready to go.
There are parts of me that are still pessimistic and some days i have my doubts aswell, but this isn't a small lithium deposit that the chinese managed to steal through bribes to an african government.I wish you are right but I doubt it. The world bank will not stop the financing, it never happened before because of a icsid case. The world needs the drc minerals, the EU & USA will be happy to get some and I guess they know that they can’t destroy the complete influence of china in a few years, they need to start anywhere to push back one day. Hopefully carlos is right and we will see some money one day through icsid, personally I doubt it but would be nice. The bod underestimated the drc in my opinion, and heard a lot of lies. It’s hard if so many parts of the government don’t accept the laws. I said it a year ago, the behavior of the government is the opposite of what to be expected if we really would have their help. Would be a easy order to shut cominiere quite and stop them, but the needed people don’t wanted.
This is THE largest lithium deposit, amazing grade and at surface. We all know the potential of this thing, we could set up 2 or 3x 10mtpa plants over the next 10 years and the profit margins are through the roof. If somehow the Chinese manage to successfully steal this asset off of us, the BoD's current strategy of keeping their cards to their chest and staying reasonably quiet will go out the window and there will be reputational damage for the DRC (I know they already have a bad reputation). I just can't see it happening this far in the game now.
I've spent majority of the time in suspension thinking that we would either lose it all or end up coming out screwed & that we should have negotiated earlier on, but since the ICSID i think it really turned a corner. I had my doubts of Nigel and the BoD but i have to give them credit for getting this far in the game and IMO having the upper hand now. Any negative information that comes out from now until the AGM, i'm not even going to bother worrying about it because even if these documents are real, we don't know the true intent or story behind them. I'm holding all judgement until the AGM.
Anyway i've rambled enough for a friday arvo
