If the gringos wanna involve Cominiere then let them have fun with that

Most important bit for us is KoBold will buy Roche Dure so that disputes are resolved

A little bit of the bubbly is imminent imo

A bit concerning no mention of dathcom or avz! Fingers crossed they aren't trying to shaft us

Understandable that DRC want to distance themselves from AVZ to protect themselves from their corruption .
Would expect an announcement from AVZ should fair value be accepted otherwise an announcement to the contra that Kobold offer not accepted.
Hopefully Kobold will pay fair value

By asking Copilot a series of questions it has presented a detailed AVZ compensation mechanism and timeline. Whether Copilot is correct or not is another matter, but the essence of the 'compensation mechanism' is:
  1. Independent Valuation.
  2. Cash Componet.
  3. Equity Component.
  4. Escrow and Guarantees.
  5. Milestone Bonuses.
I have not posted the detail regarding the AVZ compensation mechanism and timeline because I don't know how accurate it is. However, does anybody want to read the Copilot detail fwiw? Of course you could just interrogate Copliot, Grok, etc. and see what answers you get, but the answers depend on the questions that you present.

I agree it’s disgusting we AVZ never gets a mention through these talks but the paragraph below was taken from Reuters July19th update.

It commits the Congolese government to support KoBold's initiative to buy and develop the Roche Dure lithium deposit located at Manono and resolve disputes that have delayed the project's development, according to the agreement.

Could this possibly suggest a deal being done by the end of this month?

Congo, M23 rebels to sign declaration of principles to end fighting, sources say

By Sonia Rolley
(Reuters) -Congo and the M23 rebel group have agreed to a declaration of principles to end fighting in eastern Congo, a sign of progress after months of talks mediated by Qatar, though key details still need to be negotiated, four sources said on Friday.
The declaration, expected to be signed on Saturday in Doha, comes amid heavy U.S. pressure to finalise deals that would bring peace to eastern Congo. This could potentially attract billions of dollars of Western investment to a region rich in tantalum, gold, cobalt, copper, lithium and other minerals.
M23, in the latest of a string of uprisings supported by Rwanda, seized Goma, eastern Congo’s largest city, in January and went on to make gains across North Kivu and South Kivu provinces.
The fighting has killed thousands and displaced hundreds of thousands more this year while escalating the risk of a full-blown regional war. Several of Congo’s neighbours already have troops deployed in the volatile region.
In March Qatar brokered a surprise meeting between Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi and his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame during which they called for an "immediate and unconditional" ceasefire.
That led to direct talks, also in Doha, between Congo and M23. Congo had previously rejected the idea of holding talks with M23, branding it a terrorist group.
In April, both sides pledged to work towards a ceasefire. But sources in both delegations have expressed frustration with the pace of negotiations and the lack of progress on confidence-building measures including the release of M23 members held by Congo and the re-opening of banks in rebel-held territory.

It was unclear on Friday how many of those issues have been resolved. There are also bigger questions on possible Rwandan and M23 withdrawals from eastern Congo.
An official familiar with the discussions said the declaration of principles, reached after face-to-face meetings as well as shuttle diplomacy by the Qataris, would include an immediate ceasefire and outline "a commitment to begin formal negotiations on a comprehensive peace agreement in the near future."
The official said there was also consensus on a mechanism for a permanent ceasefire and a roadmap for restoring state authority in eastern Congo once a peace agreement is signed.
An M23 source said the document does not mention any kind of troop withdrawal.
"The American pressure is very strong," a Congolese source said on Friday, noting the presence in Doha of Massad Boulos, Trump’s senior adviser for Africa.
"But there are still many points unresolved. This is only one step in the discussions."
TALKS IN WASHINGTON
Washington has also hosted talks between Congo and Rwanda. On June 27 the two countries’ foreign ministers signed a peace deal and met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. Trump warned of "very severe penalties, financial and otherwise" if the deal is violated.
Trump also invited Tshisekedi and Kagame to Washington to sign a package of deals that Boulos dubbed the "Washington Accord".
Speaking to reporters on July 2, Boulos said the Trump administration would "love" to hold that meeting at the end of July. But he also said U.S. officials hope to have a deal in Doha finalised by then.

Light at the end of the tunnel will depend on Kobolds acting honestly and paying fair value.
Come this far and the date before July 31st is questionable.
Is it to avoid progressing to the courts ?
Logic would say that Kobold have no shortage of funds and US government wants to secure critical minerals and would not jeopardise securing Monano over a few billion dollars for a protracted dispute that opens up the corruption of the DRC and progress of developing Manono.
Hopefully fair value has been accepted and everyone moves on.

Translation:

Let’s now turn to the mining agreements in the DRC. The Congolese government and the American company Cobalt Metals have signed an agreement in Kinshasa under the high patronage of President Félix Tshisekedi. This took place yesterday.

Our correspondent Lola Colomba joins us. Good evening, Lola.

Lola, what exactly is this about? What’s at stake?

Well, officially, the agreement aims to accelerate and increase American investments in the mining sector in the DRC, and it is divided into three parts.

First, the start-up Cobalt (Cobold) will invest in the digitisation of the DRC’s geological data. This refers to historical mining information — what has been discovered in past explorations. The American company promises to make this data public and accessible to all.

The second part is Cobold’s exploration program, which involves discovering new mining deposits to exploit. For this, Cobold is relying heavily on artificial intelligence, which is the startup’s main strength and a key promotional point. The startup is backed by Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, and it has already raised nearly a billion dollars to fund its projects.

Let’s listen to its Managing Director in the DRC, who spoke yesterday after the agreement was signed:

"In the coming days or weeks, we want to submit applications for exploration permits over vast areas of land, so that we can bring in our equipment and technology to explore these spaces."

The third part of the agreement concerns the lithium deposit in Manono, located in the Tanganyika province. This site has been blocked for years due to a legal dispute between a Chinese and an Australian mining company. The agreement provides that Cobold will help resolve this dispute, so that eventually the Manono lithium can be acquired and developed by Cobold.

However, given the complexity of the situation, some civil society observers remain cautious. That’s the case with Jimmy Mounourek, a member of the anti-corruption coalition "Congo is not for sale":

“We’re already aware of all the problems with governance of state-owned mining companies in the DRC. The Manono area belongs, in part, to the state-owned company Cominière. So, what is Cominière’s role in all this? How will transparency and accountability be ensured in this agreement, and in the governance of the state-owned companies in the mining sector in the DRC?”

Finally, the broader concern is the context in which this agreement is taking place.

For Jimmy Mounourek and other civil society observers, the link to the broader, little-publicised US-DRC mineral partnership remains unclear:

“We see an American company arriving. So we wonder — what exactly is the content of this broader partnership? Has the partnership with the United States already been concluded? If so, in the name of transparency, it’s important for the public to know the full content of the agreement. Because this agreement with Cobold seems to be a specific piece of a larger overall deal.”

In any case, Kinshasa is preparing to appoint a special envoy to oversee and facilitate this initiative. According to Cobold CEO Kurt House, who was quoted by the Financial Times in January, the company could even go public in 3 to 5 years.

The 27-Jun and 18-Jul signing events are different.

27 June: International peace and investment accord (DRC–Rwanda–US)
18 July: Internal DRC decree on mining title reallocation (KoBold-focused)

Also regarding the finalisation of the Washington Accord ... including the three presidents, a formal date has not been set yet. Maybe it will be 27-Jul, but it could be sooner or could be later.
How much later?
A week on Tuesday or 5 years?

Unknown unknowns.

Let's see who DRC dredges up as an envoy. Likely Celestin kibeya or some other Cominiere mafia network criminal knowing our luck and the DRC's propensity for idiocy.

I’m also of the opinion that KoBold are boxing out the rumoured two other consortiums, one of which was said to have offered more for AVZ’s interests. I guess Nigel can still consider other offers but it will take a lot of work by a competitor to catch up and put enormous pressure on AVZ at the negotiating table to accept KoBold given its Agreement with DRC. Nigel could wait for the tribunal outcomes and go the legal route but that would of course be a lengthy process with less defined outcomes.

Really don’t like the mention of MoM and Cominierre in the Agreement 🤬 🤬 🤬 but given the AVZ/KoBold framework and the ICC/ISCD favouring AVZ, I think KoBold will negotiate the purchase with AVZ. Price still a massive unknown.

I’m less enthused than most with the latest news but:

1. We only have to wait until the end of July to see whether or not there is some serious progress (point 7 from DRC / KoBold Agreement)

2. Carlos is talking about bubbly being imminent 😁

Not really, this simply says DRC will designate a special envoy by 31st July.
This is why I posted above as this is the sort of statement shareholders here always seem to misinterprete and then run with their misinterpretation.
Given DRC's position, corruption and incompetence this might end up being more of a hindrance than a help to our cause.

We are at the mercy of Kobold. Even a win at the ICC will be futile because the DRC won’t pony up the compensation. Dathcom / AVZ doesn’t exist in their minds and exposing their corruption is just white noise. DRC has trillions of wealth under their feet and US and China want a piece of that action.
Kobold will pay what they determine to be the project’s value and it will be a case of take it or leave it.
At this stage, I just want my money back so I can invest it in more viable and sustainable options.
