I do find it interesting to hear his perspective. He did suggest in a previous tweet that fair compensation for Manono was 5-7.5BUSD and in a later tweet tagged Kobold stating to “do the right thing” (in terms of paying fair value to AVZ), so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I’m pretty sure it was him and paraphrasing a little but he also come out saying AVZ got no legs to stand on and essentially parroted what Jen’s was saying a few months back. More or less accept 50c or less.

I think he’s just trying to build a brand online. Anyone know if he’s actually connected?

The 15% was obtained when payment was made in August 2021

I have zero doubt it will be confirmed by the DRC Supreme Court

Don’t forget ‘The tribunal also ordered Dathomir to bear certain costs of the arbitration, and to reimburse AVZI a substantial amount in respect of its fees and other reasonable costs incurred in defending its interests which totals c.AUD1.8M’ so AVZ don’t need to find the full $15m USD LMAO

Interesting read. Wasn’t fully aware of the Pentagon investment in a US domestic rare earths operations. It’s a contentious investment it seems and investing more broadly say into Africa will be a lot riskier. However with the minerals for security deal it’s essentially combining the two together and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Pentagon gives Manono its first major intl investment.

I thought it was interesting. If you read the article it seems there is an existing mechanism (at least at the domestic level) for the US government to also deploy assets to protect strategic interests. My vibe is that they’d “behind closed doors” back in a private US company to be the face of Manono (and DRC by extension) investment with support. I think that’s the logical and communicated pathway. But if that goes to shit, the Government could intervene directly to secure strategic interests. I think USA will get Manono, it’s the price and appeasing DRC brown bag wanters that seems to be the barriers.

These experts think the DOD is not as dependent on lithium the same way as it is for rare earths to warrant a similar MP materials style deal (equity and material floor price), so its unlikely a similar deal with be made with DOD. DOE have some deals but are more loans than floor price/equity positions.

4km away from the pegmatite, I'm sure if they start digging they'll find lithium.
What could play out is that Kobold spend the next few years digging in hope, maybe they do maybe they don't strike it lucky. In the meantime, ICSID plays out.
