Kongo-Central: arrested for alleged embezzlement, the DG of the DGRKC leaves Matadi prison

Arrested since March 25 for alleged embezzlement of public funds, the director general of the Kongo-Central Revenue Department (DGRKC), Richard Mavoka, was released from Matadi central prison on Thursday March 30, 2023.

According to cross-checked sources, the head of the financial management of Kongo-Central is the beneficiary of a provisional release granted by the High Court of Matadi.

It should be noted that this arrest was made after investigations carried out by the General Inspectorate of Finance.

Sources familiar with the matter inform that Richard Mavoka, appointed in September 2022 by provincial governor Guy Bandu, under the UDPS label, would have imposed on himself the installation costs estimated at 72 million Congolese francs and 54 million Congolese francs for his two deputies.

He would also have spent more than 474 million Congolese francs for the purchase of service vehicles without a call for tenders and would have made a withdrawal of more than 70,000 USD from the accounts of this financial management without foundation and without justification.
