Check with your accountant/tax specialist..It’s likely been covered but has anyone written this off as a loss against tax? Could it be adjusted later if/when we get a return?
Technically not a capital loss yet... you still own shares in a company that's alive and kicking..... alive and limping....It’s likely been covered but has anyone written this off as a loss against tax? Could it be adjusted later if/when we get a return?

In the Lualaba province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a tanker truck belonging to the COMMUS company and transporting sulfuric acid overturned on the night of Sunday, July 21, near the Kelangile River.
In a joint press release on Thursday, July 25, two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) warned of the harmful consequences of this accident. They are Action for Integral and Sustainable Development (ADID) and Initiative for the Protection of Human Rights and Social Reintegration (IPDHOR).
They say they fear considerable damage to "aquatic ecosystems, including fish, crabs and plant species. Despite the ongoing identification of victims, some people are harvesting vegetables in the contaminated areas," the press release reads.
These two local civil society organizations stress the need to raze these fields in order to protect public health, destroy contaminated crops, decontaminate rivers and put in place preventive measures.

COMMUS:
China's Zijin owns 72% of COMMUS and the project is in the mining hub of Kolwezi in Lualaba province.
The state-owned Gecamines controls the balance.
Zijin also holds an interest in Congo's largest copper project, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd.'s Kamoa-Kakula.19 Apr 2024

Constant Mutamba, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals
During a press briefing, held on Tuesday, July 23, on the government's reforms undertaken in the justice sector, the Minister of State in charge of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Constant Mutamba, answering the question about the perpetrators of financial embezzlement and embezzlement of public funds, indicated that anyone who will divert a single dollar from the Congolese will have his place in Makala prison.
"The Head of State gave us the mission to crack down. We will therefore be intransigent and intractable vis-à-vis all diverters of the state's public money. Anyone who will divert a single dollar from the Congolese will have his place in Makala prison. And we will reserve relentless answers to this, "he said.
Regarding the former Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi Kadima, accused of embezzlement of public funds in the case of the purchase of drills and streetlights, the Minister of Justice made it known that "no one is above the law", while nevertheless evoking the principle of the presumption of innocence guaranteed by the country's Constitution.
"Alone the judge is authorized, in terms of our law, to be able to condemn someone for an offending fact. So, I wouldn't want to interfere in an ongoing instruction, "said Constant Mutamba.
In addition, the latter said he had set up a framework for consultation with the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, in order to prosecute all cases related to embezzlement of public funds.
(Can only hope he follows through on his promise to review all files of corruption/ embezzlement sent to their office over the past 3 years).
Much more, the Minister also indicated that parallel investigation mechanisms against money laundering have been put in place. These mechanisms provide for unconditional confiscation of property, in accordance with Article 130 of the new Money Laundering Act.

Trump is a nut job ,and his new vice idiot who is a redneck Hill Billy Mountain Dew moron , is going to make sure Trump gets his arse kicked at the next election . IMOThe DRC needs to pull their finger out and sort their shit out sooner than later - they are likely going to get a better outcome while the Democrats are in power with any agreement/negotiations. Should the Republicans get in, Trump is likely to drive a tougher deal that benefits America more than the DRC - he loves the deal.
Trumpy is not one to be blackmailed - it also seems there is a theme/undercurrent that the DRC are wanting support in their boarder wars which they are seemingly trying to leverage for outcomes in mining (Felix I suspect is playing off Europe/China/America off each other).
The DRC are going to do more harm to themselves by delaying positive outcomes for Dathcoms tenement while we progress through the ICSID / ICC and the potential swing to the Republicans - but Tim (time) will tell.
The DRC reaps what they sow - at the moment it is nothing for their poor and disenfranchised population. Dathcom will assist in growing wealth in the local community of Manono for the poor and destitute.

Are we nearly there yet?
If FT was a true leader, the IGF report should of been enuff evidence to tell his chinese masters where to go, instead, he has allowed his true saviour ( AVZ ) to bleed dry and disregarded Jules Alingete great work .........all at the same time.IMO if RIO were to take over as a deal with the DRC Gov I would not be surprised to see a minority stake to China (Not Zijin).
However, the longer this all takes and the further we continue to press with ICSID my view is China's strength at the negotiating table continues to erode.
If Felix wanted to please his Chinese masters I would have thought he would want a resolution sooner rather than later (like 6 months ago lol) but it will get to a point when the cat is so far out of the bag that he has no choice - whether that time is already upon him or if it is not far away I have no idea.
Would be nice to get another "Arbitration update" announcement with the next dates for all of the cases, not that it will change anything but it would give all shareholders at least something to be waiting for. The way things are going though, the next AGM if it even happens is closer to happening that it has been since the last one.
Looks that way what a embarassment shit show AVZIf FT was a true leader, the IGF report should of been enuff evidence to tell his chinese masters where to go, instead, he has allowed his true saviour ( AVZ ) to bleed dry and disregarded Jules Alingete great work .........all at the same time.
Its been 7 months since fat cat was re elected, what has that fuck tard achieved in that time ?
I agree with your post , Nigel deserves his salary , difficult gig to say the least, $50m options to incentivise a result, but cash balance is tight, BOD should be trimmed to bare basics, Nigel, Clarke, Cohen plus lawyers STAY.........the rest go !RHyNO,
I am of the opinion that Nigel is not in it for the Salary - It has been reported that he has 50 million + shares. If those shares are worth $1 each and he earns simple interest at 3% then he earns $1.5 million per annum. Anybody thinking that he is delaying for the piddly salary he receives is a moron in my opinion.
I am of the belief Nigel is working incredibly hard under very difficult and complex conditions to get the best ourcome for himself and shareholders.
If anything, Nigel should get a salary increase for the shit he and the board have had to endure.
And no, I will not support a $1 takeover bid not even close.

We are all stuck in this mess together, yes true, we are all salty, why wouldnt we be ?This thread has become absolute crud. Rather than decent discussion, its just pissed off punters who had a crack at making multiples and are stuck and salty.
I’m one of them, with several hundred k thrown in around 40-50c.
I took a gamble in a well known shithole with a resource that was always in retrospect going to be targeted by less governed entities. My fault, I blame nobody else for where that money sits.
But I for one am enjoying the silence right now, to me itmeans progress. Nigel has my full support, as any alternative is goodnight in my view.
collecting a salary?I wonder if those new board members are even doing anything.....
#metoohowever I'm personally sick of being a fucking mushroom and want some of my fucking dollars back.
Nice and while I’m not on the best BOD on the ASX scene. Got to admit the less pale members less Perth members of the board is excellent strategy and takes consideration and insight from the big guy. Let’s hope his reward is becoming a billionaire so we can have him replace Forrest as the face of successful Australian mining.I agree with your post , Nigel deserves his salary , difficult gig to say the least, $50m options to incentivise a result, but cash balance is tight, BOD should be trimmed to bare basics, Nigel, Clarke, Cohen plus lawyers STAY.........the rest go !
survival is the name of the game right now........imo
