First Kobold, and now RIO...all this public action since the ICC threw Célestin Kibeya (aka Anus) and Cominiere under the bus. The ICSID hearing scheduled for early June 2025, may be the thing that drives King Felix-the-corrupt to finally sit down and do a deal with AVZ.
All this makes me curious about how many other miners may be interested in developing the tenement, but are yet to show their hands.
For starters, since both output and grades are on the decline at Greenbushes, you would think that at a minimum the JV partners Tianqi/IGO and Albermale would have more than a passing interest. There are many other heavyweights of international mining such as SQM, Glencore or even RIO's perennial competitor BHP that may be prepared to wear the sovereign risk.
Regardless of the commodity being mined, these flagship miners demand grade and longevity, and Manono has it in spades.
The clock is ticking for the DRC to come to an arrangement with AVZ Minerals that leads to a mining licence.
Cheers
