AVZ Discussion 2022

Cong won’t, unless he’s paid off imo. And for Knt - Cominiere is only out of the picture for negotiating, not as a part owner of Dathcom
My thoughts are that in the signing of the agreement by Mom and being overseen by Felix himself is exactly what we want to happen ie Felix will make an executive decision re all what you mention Xerof. Cong will get told to fuck off , Celestine will unfortunately retain his share of Manono lithium , demarkation line of 13359 split sorted between Kobold and Zijin and possibly Zijin will pay some compensation as part of our " Fuck Off package" We now have no part to play other than cancelling ICSID and ICC cases when the money is in our accounts
Given the size of the mess i dont think there was ever any other way to resolve this other than executive order by Felix

The 27-Jun and 18-Jul signing events are different.

27 June: International peace and investment accord (DRC–Rwanda–US)
18 July: Internal DRC decree on mining title reallocation (KoBold-focused)

Also regarding the finalisation of the Washington Accord ... including the three presidents, a formal date has not been set yet. Maybe it will be 27-Jul, but it could be sooner or could be later.

Do you (anyone) have any details on what the agreement signed is or is this just a nothing agreement "kobold are going to explore DRC for minerals"?

Obvious elephant it didn't mention Manono or AVZ, I haven't seen any mention of titles, areas, targets or the like.

At the end of the day as long as the amount is high enough for AVZ to relinquish Manono, great.
The only reason Manono lithium might need to pay would be to settle for ROFR not being extended to AVZ and for any excess stake they have carved out of 25% of the JV cominiere had. IMO

@Jongo, very good summation of the progress being made. Given DRC refuse to engage with AVZ, it’s the only way this can progress, without waiting for ICSID.

We will still need to win the Dathomir 5% case in December though to cement in the 75%. Then we have to see the DATHCOM JV acknowledged as still in play, settle on the demarkation line for the 13359 split, if there is to be one (all indications are there will be), Power station, compensation from Zijin etc etc

Would we sell them our FROR to Cominiere’s 15% ?

So many questions - no answers
Regarding the Dathomir 5% and the FROR 15%, I suspect that due to the DRC and Kobold urgency to finalise, Kobold and AVZ will take a pragmatic approach. That is, assume that AVZ will win all of the court cases and factor that assumption into the fair value calculation for AVZ to drop the ICSID and ICC cases.
Do you (anyone) have any details on what the agreement signed is or is this just a nothing agreement "kobold are going to explore DRC for minerals"?

Obvious elephant it didn't mention Manono or AVZ, I haven't seen any mention of titles, areas, targets or the like.

My opinion is the only reason that these arsewipes decided to finally agree on this is because AVZ resumed the ICSID case against the DRC and apart from that putting pressure on all of them, the price of lithium is starting to go up sharply again and they want a deal done before the price goes up further

Have a look at who’s in the photo. Lucy Tamlin, Kizito Pakabomba and Popol Mabolia Yenga (recently replaced DG of CAMI). Lucy is the only one there with any credibility

That’s just my way of reminding shareholders of some of the bullshit we’ve had to put up with from those arsewipes since Cominiere and Zijin colluded to take Manono, and the excellent job Nigel and DLA Piper did to expose them.

Of course there’s a lot more bullshit to pile on top of that, not least remembering the roles of Mupande, the Green Grub, Antoinette N’Samba, Sama Lukonde and the others who all sailed off into the sunset without any accountability.

In the presence of President Félix Tshisekedi, the Congolese government and the American company Kobold Metals signed a preliminary agreement for mineral exploration.

This Thursday, at the African Union City, President Félix Tshisekedi presided over the signing ceremony of a preliminary agreement between the Congolese government and the American company Kobold Metals regarding mineral exploration in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Congolese Minister of Mines, Kizito Pakabomba, and the General Manager of Kobold Metals in the DRC, Benjamin Katabuka, signed the agreement, sealing a strategic partnership aimed at paving the way for American investments in the sector.

Welcoming the agreement, the Kobold Metals representative in the DRC stated that it aligns with the agreements between the United States and the DRC for peace and prosperity. "We hope that this door opened by the Congolese government for American investments will lead to further U.S. investments in the DRC," said Mr. Katabuka.

According to the General Manager of the American company, the signed agreement will be implemented in three key areas: "The company commits to investing in the DRC in the digitization of geological data, exploitation using advanced technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and the development of a lithium mining project located in Manono, in Tanganyika Province."

Mr. Katabuka noted that the DRC has a wealth of geological data that is not being utilized for the country’s benefit. He stated that Kobold Metals aims to finance the digitization of this data to make it accessible to everyone, thereby attracting investments to the DRC’s mining sector. In this regard, he promised that Kobold Metals will soon apply for research permits for large areas of land, using American technology.

The Congolese entrepreneur affirmed that Kobold Metals’ goal is to employ more Congolese people, train them, compensate them, and contribute to building infrastructure for the well-being of the population.

"a lithium mining project located in Manono"
So Kobold has officially signed an agreement to develop Manono?

I guess they came to the table on the $12.

"I think you’re missing the forest for the trees."

I think that you have not read my post thoroughly, noting that your post is much the same as my post, other than your point that highlights the fact that Cominiere is out of the picture ... which is a good point to highlight.
I've been thinking more about this, and I think we all might be missing the forest for the trees. I think there are other bidders, and I think KoBold can't match what their offering and are trying to box them out.

I asked Copilot for the full text of the 18-Jul agreement, but the answer is that it has not been made public to date. Coplilot provided a detailed breakdown of what the agreement probably covers, but I suspect that the Copilot answer is mainly speculation based on heresay and hence, I have not repeated it here.

Remarkable step for our issue ... a private foreign US investment company (with no track record) stands frontline with Head of DRC (next to US ambassador).
(I can not remeber any pic between Head of DRC and Manono Lithium SAS/Zijin)

"...With this in mind, he promised that Kobold Metals will soon apply for exploration permits on large tracts of land, using American technology. ..." --> after paid a fair value to AVZ for their legal holding (75%) of the project.
