The FTSE 100 and European stocks were higher this Friday, extending rallies on Wall Street fuelled by optimism over talks to avert a catastrophic US debt default.
The FTSE 100 (^FTSE) gained 0.38% to 7,771 points during midday trading, while the CAC 40 (^FCHI) in Paris gained 0.60% to 7,491 points. In Germany, the DAX (^GDAXI) rose 0.55% to 16,252 and is closing in on an all-time high.
