Talga obviously still maintains (?) good contacts with LKAB.

"Eva Nordmark
Senior Advisor. Board executive. Former minister of Labour and Gender equality.

Both Talga Group and LKAB have been granted strategic project status by the European Commission under the CRMA, Critical Raw Materials Act. This means that our projects are central to the whole of Europe, are to be prioritised by authorities and given priority in permit processes, among other things.
Therefore, it was very exciting and rewarding for us in Talga AB's board to visit LKAB's project for critical minerals in Luleå. Many thanks for receiving us. And good luck on your important journey. We look forward to continued good cooperation!

Ulrika Håkansson Anders Lundgren Robert Jonsen Emma Själin and others"

Here you can find four updated documents for the detailed plan and itself. Search for the date 2025-06-04. I did not know many of the drawings yet.

There is also a map that clearly shows that the mine area does not affect the routes of the reindeers. You already know it from here.

I don't always have time to look there. But if I find out anything, I will of course let you know.
I'm also not 100% sure where the decision will be announced. So you better not rely on me.

Based on my correspondence with the government official , you’re right. The below reply was dated 5th of June.

‘A decision in the matter was made at today´s government meeting. However it will take a few days before it is officially dispatched. The decision will not be published on the website. I can send you a copy of the decision when it has been dispatched, if you like.’

Have you agreed and will you receive this decision (via email I hope)?

"Government Approves Strategically Important Graphite Mine in Nunasvaara

Published June 11, 2025

The government has granted approval to Talga AB to mine graphite in the area Nunasvaara South K No. 1 in Kiruna Municipality. Talga AB's mining operation in Nunasvaara has been designated as a strategic project under the EU regulation on critical raw materials.

"Sweden has unique opportunities to be—and remain—a strong player in international mineral policy. We have the most sustainable mining industry in the world: ethically sustainable, environmentally sustainable, and with good working conditions. The graphite that Talga AB intends to produce is a key material in battery manufacturing and the green transition to a fossil-free society," says Minister for Energy and Business, Ebba Busch.

The Mining Inspectorate granted the concession on October 17, 2024. Talma Sami village and **na Sami village subsequently appealed the decision to the government.

The government notes that the company has, among other things, committed to limiting operations so that drilling, blasting, and handling of waste rock will only take place six months per year—during the part of the year when reindeer herding activity in the area is at its lowest. The government considers this a commitment that significantly reduces the negative impact on reindeer husbandry. In line with the Mining Inspectorate’s assessment, the government finds that the mining operation does not pose a substantial risk of significantly hindering reindeer husbandry within the designated national interest areas. On this basis, the appeals have now been rejected."

Don't know if anyone has reported that Kiruna Council has finally provided a detailed plan for the Nunasvaara and now has published it for public comment from 11 June until July 14.

The Kiruna Council published it in the local press, Norrländska Social Demokraten, NSD.

I attach the communique, in Swedish, here.

Grandiose!!!
Thank you so much for the info and I'm going to go celebrate right now!

Do you or do any of you know whether the concession is valid now and the land can be allocated?

"The government has decided the last remaining authorisation issue regarding the graphite mine outside Vittangi. Talga AB has received a mining licence for Nunasvaara South and can therefore in principle start mining.

The approval process for Talga's first mining licence in Vittangi was lengthy. But now the pieces of the puzzle are coming together piece by piece."

It's now legally binding. If there is a judicial review, the concession still remains in force after the Government's rejection of appeals (as this is usually the last instance). Unless the Supreme Administrative Court explicitly issues an interim order to suspend the decision while the review is pending, then the concession is still legally binding. For this order to be issued, appellants would need to prove that irreparable harm would occur... a difficult task, as the environmental permits are already approved.

Here are some statistics. Follow the link to the post and below is a table, see column 4.

It shows over the years the average processing time of processing concessions against which an objection has been lodged, so exactly this case solved today. The average is 445 days. According to the average, we would therefore be on 05/01/2026 and not today. It took 238 days for Talga, which is 46.5% faster than the average.
I didn't put it on the bell.

You are so quick.
Granted ,I was fast asleep when I received the decision in my inbox - a mere 1 minute before your post.

It’s a very long and comprehensive document. Will be interesting to go through it to see what we’re up against for the expansion phase. I presume the themes will repeat themselves.

Congratulations on ticking off another milestone !
