Sounds great! However, we were all extremely confident we were going to be in the Nintendo Switch 2.

But the MegaChips license hasn’t been renewed (as far as anyone is aware) and if had been renewed, I suspect this news would be significant enough to warrant an ASX announcement

What‘s your take on when MegaChip’s might renew the license? Do you think they may be waiting for the release of AKD 1500 or 2500 or Nintendo Switch 3, for example?
I didn't expect to be in Nintendo switch, it would have been nice though.

I expect the first big wins will be with military and probably boring industrial stuff.. the wearables/medical devices is already happening but i suspect bigger revenue will come from less sexy areas first up.

I would expect megachips would be primarily interested in sensors for industrial and robotics rather than developing products for nintendo.

As for the license i wouldn't have the foggiest.

If Akida does turn up in gaming i expect that rather than megachips, the first to use it will be game developers and studios, for the reasons i stated early, hyper realistic NPCs and more immersable worlds or the gesture/eye tracking stuff in VR gaming.

That could also lead into simulations and VR training for various industries.

Whilst the low power aspect could be advantageous for consoles like the switch, gaming consoles are powered so thats kinda lost on gaming consoles. I imagine the low heat advantage will be very attractive for gaming and 3d rendering ect.. that shit gets hot!

I don’t think the real question is what Akida products can or cannot do. The real question is where BrainChip will choose to focus. And we can already see where its industrial focus is heading … at least for now, it is clearly not the gaming industry.

I actually brought up ideas like VR tracking and gesture recognition here quite a while ago,if someone can remember that…but without much response. When it comes to VR, for example, controller-free gameplay especially regarding gesture recognition, could be a major use case. Another one would be improved boundary warning systems, so people do not end up smashing their hands into a wall or the TV. Since I play VR myself, I know these problems very well. Battery consumption is also annoying. Playing with a cable is annoying on a so called stand alone console.

And while we are on the subject of wire …with something like Akida, you could theoretically enable amazing experiences on a standalone headset without needing to stay connected to Steam the whole time.

But as I said, BrainChip seems to have different industry priorities. You can already see that from the website. What licensees eventually choose to build and offer with the technology is a different story.

Akida classifies input signals. As Kevin has demonstrated, it be used in a music generation implementation as a coprocessor with a CPU running IBM's Symphony software.

I haven't studied Kevin's description of how this works, but it seems as though he used Symphony's Multiple Scheduling feature to utilize the outputs from different music models loaded on the ten Akida chips. I guess there were models for strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, etc, which responded to the sheet music, or rather the QDNP adaptation of the sheet music as the activations for each Akida chip, and Symphony coordinated the resulting outputs.

This could only have been done by someone who has intricate knowledge of Symphony, as well as expertise in music, and is familiar with the operation of Akida. Serendipitously, Kevin was in the right place at the right time, with the wherewithal to pull off this magic.

Multiple scheduling schemes
A fair-share scheduling scheme with 10,000 priority levels can be used for multiple jobs for a single application. Preemptive and resource-threshold-based scheduling is available with runtime change management. Multi-dimensional scheduling is supported with the ability to specify slot definition for each consumer in terms of up to four customizable resource metrics.

To convert to gaming implementation, simply make changes mutatis mutandis.

Hi Rach,

That is a fantastic endorsement of Akida and its agnostic compatibility not only with other processors, but also with other software, as well as a great example of Kevin's expertise with Symphony, QDNPs, ML, etc.

... and remember these are small 80 npu Akida 1s.

We need an interview with Kevin and Tony Lewis.
